It just does not happen to you for your Rakhi Shopping online only. It happens everywhere and every time me an you shop online from small websites, large websites, famous websites, brand owned websites too.
"Most of us fall into many traps that online sellers lead us to. Obviously not knowing that they are traps."
You perhaps took my words too seriously! No, I am not talking about any illegal activities or shoddy activities carried out by online sellers. What I am trying to say is...
They are masters of the game.
Market Places: The Mad Race for "Listing On Top"
Sellers on market places lead a tough life. With so many sellers having the same product to sell you can well imagine their plight. The only way for them to survive is that when you and me search for a particular product on the marketplaces like AMAZON, EBAY, FlipKart etc. each seller's products should get to the top of the Search Results List.
Now to make this easier for you to understand let me explain using an example - 10 people wish to buy Rakhis for Brother and yes we are among those ten, you and me. Now here all 10 are buying Rakhis but the "Juice" is in what each one of us is searching. Searching is an art. More on this later in My Article - "The Art of Searching".
Here You may search "Send Rakhi To Brother Online in USA" wanting to look for Rakhis that you wish to send to your brother living in USA and I may search "Online Rakhis to US for brother". Here all sellers would want their Rakhis to list on top to catch our attention. To do so, the sellers have to use these BOTH phrases is their description, product name (title), key words etc. and the winners are the ones who do this in the smartest way.
"Sellers can not simply use all possible Search Phrases in their product descriptions or titles to reach the top of listings."
People are varied and so are their "Search Phrases" which also depend on too many factors. Unscrupulous sellers will write all phrases imaginable only to reach the top listings.
"Gullible Shoppers Assume - Top listings are on top because they are better than others" and they buy their products blindfolded only to FEEL CHEATED!" - So DO NOT always believe in the top listed products only.
Online sellers actually do not stick to Point-to-Point details when it comes to Naming, Describing and Promoting Products.
The "FREE SHIPPING TRAP"
This really really looks too good to resist and very very seasoned old time online shoppers also fall prey to these kind of products that offer FREE SHIPPING. They actually are TOO POSITIVE THINKERS who believe that all is hunky dory as is shouted out from roof tops.
"Mind you, there is no one on this planet who will ship your products for free."
It's all built into the cost of the product that you are ordering! Simple. It is as simple as that.
AND Now! THE DOUBLE TRAP!
Many times and most of the FREE SHIPPING hunters end up paying higher amounts in total as compared to those who bought products with SHIPPING EXTRA TAG. HOW? lte me explain it though it is very simple logic but normal shoppers do not understand this as they do not understand the dynamics of SHIPPING RATES charges by the courier companies.
You now know this by now that the Shipping Cost is in built. When you shop for more then 1 product to be delivered to the same address you are paying for the Shipping of these two products (which is in-built in both products). Looks simple!! Nah! it's not really that simple. I will give you an example. Let us say you bought a Bhaiya Bhabhi Pair of Rakhis to Australia or say Bhaiya Bhabhi Rakhi Pair to India and then you add A Kids Rakhi along with it. So you paid shipping for both the items i.e. Bhaiya Bahbhi Rakhi Pair & a Kids Rakhi. Whereas in reality the total Shipping Ready Weight of both the products is less than 500 Grams and all courier companies charge shipping on the total weight.
TRAPPED!! isn't it? You paid for the In-Built Shipping cost of the two products and the seller paid only for one PACKET weighing less than 500 Grams. He charged you double the shipping cost.
Had you shopped from a website that calculates shipping based on the weight of the final consignment you would have saved a lot because after all you were sending the Rakhis to AUSTRALIA which is an International destination and the shipping prices are high, very high indeed.
Hence I suggest you to buy Rakhis or products online from websites which charge shipping based on the total Shipping Ready Weight as is done by RakhisOnline.com
